Apple Original Films will release the production of “Come From Away”. The play posted a slogan outside the Gerald Schoenfield Theater. This is where the Broadway show was performed this week, indicating that the filming date is April 27 to May 5. The film directed by Christopher Ashley will feature actors from the Broadway crew and employ more than 200 actors.

We are yet to receive news on the casting. RadicalMedia, which filmed the live captures of “Hamilton” and “David Byrne’s American Utopia“, is currently filming Come From Away for Apple. Previous Apple original movies include “Billie Eilish: The World’s A Little Blurry” and “Springsteen on Broadway.”

Welcome to The Rock, If You Come From Away!

“Come From Away” on Broadway is the brainchild of real-life couples Irene Sankoff and David Hein. After staying in San Diego, Seattle, Washington DC and Toronto, it settled on Broadway. It is the longest-running Canadian musical so far on Broadway. You may have seen the viral image of Canadian graffiti: “Your mother is a good woman.” This is the theme of “from afar”-human kindness. The show is a way for the author to commemorate those who fell on the tragic day of September 11. And to pay tribute to all those who supported the kindness and compassion shown in the following events.

In “Come From Away” we don’t have the main character. We have a couple of prolific characters that are strong individuals – Claude the Mayor and Beverley Bass, the captain of one of the planes. The Mayor was one of the most active individuals in helping the refugees, while Mrs. Bass is a somewhat historic figure – she is the first female captain in American Airlines. She also led the first-ever female-only flight crew. Another strong character, again a lady, is Bonnie Harris. She is the local vet that took care of the 19 animals that were aboard of the planes. Including an epileptic cat and a couple of Bonobo Chimps.
