Adrienne Warren will return playing rock icon Tina Turner on Broadway. She was nominated by Tony in 2020 for her performance. Now, she will resume her performance at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre on October 8.

Warren was also nominated for the Olivier Award for her work in the London musical premiere. She will perform a limited show on Broadway. A Broadway favorite, she was also nominated by Tony for her performance in Shuffle A. Warren announced her return to Broadway on Instagram and wrote.

Warren is the co-founder of the Broadway Advocacy Alliance. She recently completed the filming of the ABC limited series “Sports Women”, in which she played Mamie Till-Mobley (Mamie Till-Mobley). Jay-Z, Will Smith, and Aaron Kaplan served as producers and will premiere early next year.

Cast

Adrienne Warren will return to Broadway as Tina. The Tina Turner musical opened on Broadway on November 7, 2020. It starred the current Tony nominee Warren as Tina Turner and Daniel J. Watts as Ike Turner. When it was closed, the musical also featured Dawn Lewis as Zelma, Enkeki Obi-Melekway as Tina Turner (in some performances), and Myra Lucretia Taylor As Gran Giorgio Anna, Jessica Rush as Rhonda. Behind the company are Steven Booth, Nick Rashard Burroughs, Gerald Caesar, Julius Chase, Holly Conway, Keira Davien, Leandra Eyre Lis-Gaston, Ali Grover, Charlie Franklin, Judith Franklin, Matthew Griffin, Sheldon Henry, David Jennings, Rose Leckites, Robert Renzi, Gloria Manning, Rob Manel, Mehlet Marsh, Jaden Dishan Milton, Natonia Monet, Destiny Ray, Justin Schumann, Alyssa Short, Carla Stewart, Jayden Theophile, Skye Dakota Turner, Antonio Watson, and Katie Webb. The other actors returning will be announced later.

Plot

This musical depicts Turner from her hometown of Nutbush, Tennessee (Anna May Bullock’s birthplace) to her initial stardom. Also, her abuse at the hands of Ike Turner, and her eventual recovery. Her story contains several of her hit songs, including “River Deep in the Mountain”, “Private Dancer” and “(Simply) The Best”.
