Due to schedule conflicts, the premiere of Flying Over Sunset on Broadway was postponed for a week. It was initially announced that it will start previews on November 4 and open on December 6. Now, the musical will begin previews on November 11 and will open at the Vivienne Beaumont Theater on December 13. Fans will have to wait longer to learn more about the use of LSD and the lives of Clare Boothe Luce, Aldous Huxley, and Cary Grant.
Flying Over Sunset is played by Carmen Cusack as Luce, Harry Hadden-Paton as Huxley, and Tony Yazbeck as Grant. All three of them tried to use psychedelic drugs to unlock their hearts in the 1950s. This musical is a book written by director James Lapine, music by Tom Kitt, and lyrics by Michael Korie. Other actors and creative team members will be announced later.
Prior to Flying Over Sunset, Lincoln Center Theatre will be the co-producer of the Broadway broadcast. Its LCT3 production of Antoinette Chinonye Nwandu’s “Pass Over” directed by Danya Taymor will open in August Wilson this fall.
