The 74th Tony Award Winners were announced at the Winter Garden Theater on September 26. Six-time Tony Award winner Audra MacDonald and Tony Award winner Leslie Odom Jr. co-hosted the evening. Moulin Rouge! the musical topped the list with 10 wins including the Best Musical. The biggest night on Broadway was a blast!
The 74th Tony Award Winners
Jagged pill won the Best Book award and Lauren Patten’s victory. Tina: The Tina Turner musical star Adriana Warren has also become a Tony Award winner. Matthew López’s The Inheritance won the Best Drama Award and earned both Lois Smith and Andrew Burnap the Tony Award. “A Soldier’s Play” won the Best Drama Revival Award; David Alan Grier (David Alan Grier) also became the Tony Award winner for his performance in the production.
In addition to the highest honor of the night, it also won the Alex Timbers’ Best Musical Director Award; Sonya Tayeh’s Best Choreographer and its team compiled countless popular songs into the best arrangement of its music score, comprehensively in the design category Swept and won the victory of two actors: Aaron Tveit (the only nominee in the category) and Danny Burstein (his first after seven nominations).
At the same time, “Inheritance” won the best screenplay award, as well as awards from director Stephen Daldry and two performers: Andrew Bernap and Lois Smith. However, this was not the show with the most wins of the night, because “A Christmas Carol” swept all four design categories and received the best original score. Slave Play received 12 nominations for making history last year but was actually rejected.
