The cast of Waitress was announced! Composer and performer Sara Bareilles will be joined by Anderson as Carl, Dawson as Becky, Fitzgerald as Augie, Horahan as Dawn, and Gailing as Dr. Pomart. All are alumni of the show’s previous Broadway and/or tour. The other actors will be announced later.

Eric Anderson, Charity Angel Dawson, Tony nominee Christopher Fitzgerald, Caitlin Houlahan, Drew Gehling, and more will join Grammy winner and Tony and Emmy nominee Sara Bareilles. This should be once again stepping into the central role of her musical Waitress. It will begin September 2 at the Ethel Barrymore Theatre.

Bareilles will play the pie maker Jenna until October 17. The limited operation of Waitress is currently planned until January 9, 2022. Bareilles was nominated for a Tony Award for the soundtrack created for the show based on the 2007 film. The following year, she succeeded the original star Jessie Mueller to play the role of Jenna.

Throughout the production process, she ended up participating in two more limited events. She performed in the West End for a while before the coronavirus shut down. Waitress first opened on Broadway in April 2016. The show then performed its world premiere at the American Repertory Company in Cambridge, Massachusetts. It made history and became the first Broadway musical to bring women into the top four creative spots. The cast included Barrells, director Diane Paulus, writer Jesse Nelson, and choreographer Lorraine Latarro. Barry and Fran Weissler worked with Norton and Elayne Herrick.

Bareilles speaks out

Grammy winner, Tony and Emmy nominee Sarah Barrells will once again take the core role of her musical Waitress at the Ethel Barrymore Theatre on September 2nd. She is producing The new video talks about the return of the musical to Broadway. The composer and performer said: “The Broadway neighborhood is the heartbeat of New York City… the pulse of the city was born within a radius of these 10 blocks”. Bareilles plans to play the pie maker Jenna before October 17th. He added: “In order to achieve this goal, Gunsan was moved. We are happy to say that this restaurant will be on Broadway for another round.” The post also made fun of other cast members to be announced.

Waitress features sets by Tony winner Scott Pask, costumes by Suttirat Anne Larlarb, lighting by Tony winner Christopher Akerlind, and sound by Tony nominee Jonathan Deans. The music supervisor is Nadia DiGiallonardo. Casting is by Telsey Company.
