The acclaimed musical Girls From North Country is set to close on Broadway at the Belasco Theater on January 23. The new musical will close with 31 previews and 117 regular performances.

Girls From North Country to close!

Girls From North Country originally opened on March 5, 2020, but closed just a week later due to New York’s COVID restrictions. The production reopened on October 13, 2021. The production is currently in advanced conversations with the Schubert organization to reopen in the spring. Featuring a book by director Conor McPherson and music from Bob Dylan’s catalog, the musical showcases a Duluth, Minn. A slice of life in the neighborhood, where the Laine family runs a rundown guesthouse.

Cast

The cast currently consists of Todd Almond, Colin Bates, Jeannette Bayardelle, Jennifer Blood, Alex Joseph Grayson, Matthew Frederick Harris, Caitlin Houlahan, Robert Joy, Tony nominee Marc Kudisch, Luba Mason, Ben Mayne, Matt McGrath, Tom Nelis, Jay O. Sanders, John Schiappa, Austin Scott, Housso Semon, Kimber Elayne Sprawl, Edward Staudenmayer, Rachel Stern, Anastasia Talley, Chiara Trentalange, Bob Walton, Aidan Wharton, Chelsea Lee Williams, and Tony nominee and two-time Emmy winner Mare Winningham.

Creative

Girl from the North Country features landscape and costume design by Rae Smith; arrangement, arrangement and music supervision by Simon Hale, with additional arrangements by Hale and McPherson; lighting design by Mark Henderson; sound design by Simon Baker; Lucy Hind; and music direction by Marco Paguia. Originating from The Old Vic in London, the musical has also performed at the West End and the New York Public Theatre in Toronto. It is currently performing in Sydney, Australia.

Broadway production by Tristan Baker & Charlie Parsons for Runaway Entertainment, Steven Lappin, Sony Music Entertainment/Sony ATV, David Mirvish, Len Blavatnik, The Dodgers, Eric & Marsi Gardiner, Dianne Roberts, John Gore Organization, Nederlander Presentations, Inc., Tommy Mottola, Independent Presenters Network, Rod Kaats, Diana DiMenna, Mary Beth O’Connor, Barbara H.
