Keenan Scott II and Thoughts of a Colored Man: Debut!

Must read

Keenan Scott II, the creator of Thoughts of a Colored Man, wrote the play for a new Broadway. A Broadway that can produce works to present them to audiences who may not have participated in these types of dramas before.

Keenan Scott II and Thoughts of a Colored Man

Scott’s play “Thoughts of a Colored Man,” tells the story of seven black men. They are about to discover something extraordinary together in a day in Brooklyn. Scott used what he called a “grand slam narrative” to combine spoken language, slam poetry, rhythm, and humor. That way he created a bold new script. “I didn’t see my representative in the drama I studied in college, so I decided to write one,” he said. He never thought about going on Broadway. But after years of development, his play fell into the hands of the right people, and the rest is history.
