Roundabout Theatre Company’s current Broadway revival of Caroline, or Change will release a cast album through Broadway Records. The album was recorded on November 15th and 16th. It will be released digitally on December 17th and January 14th on a CD.

​​Roundabout and Broadway Records, the new mark of Roundabout Records, will launch the cast album. It will be a dual-CD release and retain the entire score. “It is very satisfying to make Caroline, or Change and bring its star Sharon D Clarke to Broadway. Especially considering the struggle of the past two years,” said Todd Haimes, Art Director and CEO of Roundabout.

“Being able to keep it forever-as our 25th actor album and the first recording of the collaboration between Roundabout Records and Broadway Records-means the world for everyone who has worked hard to come here. I look forward to more and Fan works with his team.”

Cast

The cast album of Caroline, or Change will include the full Broadway revival cast. It will be led by Sharon D. Clarke in her Olivier-winning performance in the title role. Alongside her will star Alexander Bello as Jackie Thibodeaux, John Cariani as Stuart Gellman, Joy Hermalyn as Grandma Gellman, Arica Jackson as The Washing Machine, Tamika Lawrence as Dotty Moffett), Caissie Levy as Rose Stopnick Gellman, Kevin S. McAllister as The Dryer and The Bus, Harper Miles as Radio 3, N’Kenge as The Moon, Nya as Radio 2, Jayden Theophile as Joe Thibodeaux, Nasia Thomas as Radio 1, Samantha Williams as Emmie Thibodeaux, Stuart Zagnit as Grandpa Gellman, and Chip Zien as Mr. Stopnick.

Further cast members include Gabriel Amoroso, Adam Makké, and Jaden Myles Waldman, who share the role of Noah Gellman. It is unclear which actor will record the role for the album.

Creative

Caroline, or Change features Tony Kushner’s book and lyrics and music by Jeanine Tesori. It tells of a maid in a Jewish family in Louisiana in 1963. The story of a black woman. This work is a semi-autobiographical work of Kushner. It premiered in a public theater off-Broadway in 2003 and moved to Broadway in the same year.

The revival of Roundabout opened on October 27th as a transfer of British works. It first began at the Chichester Festival Theatre in 2017. And it performed in the West End the following year. The production is helmed by Michael Longhurst, Ann Yee as a choreographer, Nigel Lilley music supervision, Joseph Joubert music director, Fly Davis set and costume design. Jack Knowles is in charge of lighting design, while Paul Arditti – of sound design. Rick Bassett is responsible of the choreography, Joseph Joubert and Buryl Red; Amanda Miller Hair and wig design, Sarah Cimino’s makeup design. The show will continue to perform at Studio 54 on Broadway on January 9, 2022.

The revival

The new Revival Actor Album is the second recording of the work, produced by Elliot Scheiner, Nigel Lilley, Jeanine Tesori, and Van Dean, and mixed and edited by Lawrence Manchester. Sydney Beers, Elizabeth Armstrong, Jim Kierstead/Broadway Factor, and Richard Allen/Taran Gray are the executive producers of the album, with Gina Maria Leonetti, Amy Sherman-Palladino, and Daniel Palladino, Walport Productions, Franklin Theatre Group/John Wall, and Mia Moravis serving as associates Producer.
